There’s a new Play Venue in town! The Play Parlor is located right in the heart of downtown Lawrenceville, which is very telling, given the heartwarming nature and fabric of this hidden gem! On Saturday, September 9 2023, The Play Parlor hosted A Jeweled Event’s Purses with a Purpose charity event, in which purses filled with toiletries were prepared to be sent to battered women’s shelters and other nonprofit organizations! The creative genius behind it all, Ms Julie De Jesus certainly lived up to her name and reputation as a professional woman in business and a pillar in the community. Her efforts brought forth the support of local Girl Scouts, Councilwoman Marlene Taylor Crawford, Lawrenceville’s own Macaronikid and other local residents! We were privileged to take part in this event; when A Jeweled Event has and event planned, you show up!

As shared by the Gwinnett Daily Post, ‘Dr. Tiffany “Shug” Welch has an extensive career in family medicine and she has long expressed concern about the decline in social and mental interaction that has come about by what she terms ‘addiction to technology.’ I personally witnessed the wonders of this new play venue with its various rooms and over 350 game menu. My teenagers, who are normally isolated at home played nonstop and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They played pool. Ping pong, giant uno, charades and chess! We later enjoyed ice cream and treats from the concessions before playing bingo! Lucky me, I won a Play Parlor shirt, that I will wear with pride. When I return, I hope to play Lawrencevilleopoly, and bring my kids in for chess lessons!
