January 7, 2020

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, winner of seven 2013 Olivier Awards and five 2015 Tony Awards, including Best Play, is set to hit Aurora Theatre’s mainstage from Jan. 9 – Feb. 9. The brilliant adaptation by Simon Stephens, based on Mark Haddon’s much-lauded novel, follows an autistic teenage boy on a heart-warming journey as he works to solve a thrilling mystery.

“This was the most produced play in the country this year. There was no question that we had to share this to Aurora Theatre audiences,” said Anthony Rodriguez, Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director. “Our production brilliantly conveys the sensory overload that people on the autism spectrum experience. The story depicts the reality that anyone can be extraordinary. The use of video projections and the precision of the ensemble-driven movement will connect Aurora patrons with this riveting story.”

Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old boy on the autism spectrum who likes math, outer space and looking after his pet rat Toby, finds himself at the center of a mystery. Wrongfully accused of murdering his neighbor’s dog, Christopher’s investigation to find the real culprit sets him off on an inspiring adventure that turns his whole world upside-down.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time showcases a stunning cast. Atlanta newcomer Brandon Michael Mayes will make his Aurora Theatre debut and play the role of Christopher. The ensemble is comprised of Aurora Theatre favorites Shelli Delgado, Lala Cochran, and Jimi Kocina, who along with top Atlanta talent of Christopher Hampton, Megan Dominy, Yvonne Singh, and Brian Kurlander complete this stellar cast. They will perform under the co-direction of Justin Anderson, Aurora Theatre Associate Artistic Director and Lisa Adler, Horizon Theatre Co-Artistic and Producing Director, along with movement direction by Roger Ellis.
