Stone Mountain Christmas

A Classic Family Tradition

By Maria Vargas November 26, 2019

Stone Mountain Christmas is now in full swing and spreading the Christmas joy among all those who attend. You will see Santa Claus, magical light displays, and many more attractions that will keep the whole family entertained. The highlights for us this year were the shows, parades, the snacks, and Snow Mountain.

My family and I have been coming to Stone Mountain Christmas every year. It’s become a holiday tradition for us.  The best part is that as the kids get older, we are able to stay out longer and enjoy all that Stone Mountain Park has to offer. We first headed off to taste the cinnamon bread with some hot chocolate. If you haven’t tried the cinnamon bread, you will be in for a treat. The bread was not overly sweet, and it had the right amount of salt to sweet (So goooood!).   Afterward, we hit the slopes of Snow Mountain. This year, Snow Mountain has added another set of snow tubing lanes called the “ Dare Devil Plunge”.  The ride is steeper and goes much faster than the regular Tube Runner lanes. Needless to say, we were hooked on this ride. We then visited the snow play area and let the kids make makeshift hills for sliding and build snowmen.  They had so much fun.

Christmas Carolers

Once the night sky was present, the holiday festivities began to arrive. The parades were spectacular. We got see Santa riding his sleigh in the sky and many more characters throughout the parade. Afterward, we watched “A Christmas Carol” theatre play. We love this show because it is packed with so much laughter. Then, we went to the “Christmas In the City” show. Readers, this show is amazing and a must-see. The costumes, choreography and the singing were out this world.

It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Tree

Apart from doing putt-putt and watching the all-time classic 4D film feature, “Polar Express”, another film was featured right on the big Christmas tree in the heart of the village. We sat around the tree and watched “It’s a Wonderful Life”. The shortened film was projected on the tree with shadow figures to follow along with the audio. We all sat still and ate up the whole show. The story has a nice lesson about appreciating life and that all lives matter.

And to close off the night, Angelina the Snow Angel made her presence and glided through the town bringing snow to all of us. A firework display followed right after Angelina. It was truly a great way to end the night.

If you haven’t visited Stone Mountain Christmas yet, I think you ought to try it out. It is worth what you spend and more. There’s so much to do and see and I think you will not be disappointed. Beautiful memories are sure to be made in this wonderful time of year. Happy Holidays!
