My husband and I had a rare date night last month and we decided to try our hand at an escape room. We had done one previously in Loganville with our friends as a double date, but we didn't solve that one and the world was destroyed by aliens.
The one we decided to try is called Escape the Mystery Room located in Sugarloaf Mills. It is nearby Bass Pro Shops, so park somewhere close to there unless you want to walk the whole mall. We called and booked the zombie room earlier in the day for the 6 pm start time. However, my husband misunderstood and ended up at Mall of Georgia instead of Sugarloaf Mills, so we had to call and tell them that we wouldn't make that one. When we arrived at 7:00, she immediately showed us rooms that were available for that time. We chose the Secret Agent room as it was one of the newer rooms (and she indicated was easier despite the lower completion statistics). She then showed us each lock type that were to be used in the rooms and the possible problems one might face in opening them (such as a spring loaded lock when must be pushed closed on the combination before the latch releases).
Upon entering the room, there was a couch, wall map, and two desks. There was not much searching for clues but deciphering how a clue relates to a combination lock. We did have to ask for clues 2 times, but did escape with 2 seconds to spare, go us!
This is a great escape room for working with locks and relating clues to combinations (very ingenious ways). There also was little distraction that could possibly keep one from completing the room. It was fun that a bonus mission could be done (allowing those to keep going if there were time left). This room is great for tweens and teens, and as an adult starter room, but if you want an immersive experience where ambience, codes, tools, and wit all work together for an escape, then you might be disappointed.
