We spent this past Saturday viewing Georgia Aquarium's new exhibit, Aquanaut Adventure: A Discovery Zone. You're guided through several educational and fun challenges, of which five need to be completed in order to become a AQUANAUT! You're given an Ipad to help you along the way, which tracks the badges you received as well as counts down your remaining time.
We had a blast! It's always good to have some educational aspect in an outing without the kids realizing it, the questions/activities were S.T.E.M related (S.T.E.M= Science, Technology, Engineering or Math). They have three different levels you can choose from, which will determine how easy/hard the questions will be. We partnered up with another Macaroni family to complete the adventure. Luckily the boys were the same age, so we made the questions easier for them. The first task we had was to match an animal up with the picture on our Ipad. The screen looked as though you were looking through binoculars, once you hovered over the animal, it would move on the screen. Pretty cool!
In the next task, the boys had to get as many baby fish into the mama fish's mouth, or they will be eaten by the predator!
Future drummers perhaps?
Matching the pattern with the corresponding dolphin. Badge received!
We had to make food for a particular animal (we had sea turtle). You must scan the items that the animal will eat in order to receive your badge.
We even got to do a little exploring!
There were also other activities you can do along your way from one challenge to another. The boys were measuring the whales here.
Here you have to feed your frog. There are four frogs that can go at the same time, so four adventurers can participate at once. We then had to find the fish by lightly touching the wall to find the animal, when you do it will light up.
Can't forget to take the pledge! Nice pose boys!
Official AQUANAUTS!!
I'd say he had a good time...
