A first day of school story unlike any other!

With the first day of school just around the corner, Oliver and his Alligator is a great choice for new students and seasoned students, alike. Like most of us starting a new job or a new school year, Oliver has the first day jitters. He picks up an alligator from the swamp to help him conquer his fears. When Oliver is presented with a difficult situation he looks to the alligator to burden the problem, making it go away.

Soon Oliver's feeling of anxiousness about school goes away and his school day becomes much simpler, but gets a little lonely. His alligator is getting a bit full too, but Oliver knows just what to do. The wonderfully illustrated pages allow readers to imagine the actions of the alligator. The reader does not actually see the alligator eating his problems, but they soon find out what it's like to be inside. There's a whole lot of fun going on in there and Oliver is temporarily left out. Oliver realizes what he's missing and is ready to be a part of it all. A great story that encourages children to conquer their fear of socializing. This book is best for ages 3-5.
